Waikato / Championships / 2026 shield winners
A shield won. A whole club behind it.
Hautapu’s 2026 grand final brought the Waikato Breweries Shield back to Cambridge.
The shield returns to Cambridge
Hautapu beat Hamilton Marist 27–23 on 18 July 2026 to win its eighth Waikato Breweries Shield. The development side also won the Rowe Cup that day.
A place among Waikato’s leading teams
The 2026 victory followed a 2023 title and runner-up finishes in 2024 and 2025. That record places Hautapu firmly in the story of Waikato men’s premier rugby.
The wider club
Junior, women’s, colts and senior rugby pathways connect different generations at Hautapu. The shield sits within that wider sporting community.
