Local roots since 1885

Petone Rugby Football Club was founded in 1885. Three descendants of Honiana Te Puni played in its first official fifteen, weaving local connections into the club’s earliest rugby history.

A welcome across a lifetime

Nursery rugby, juniors, the Petone Ponies, colts, seniors and Golden Oldies all have a place in the Village. Volunteers and supporters belong alongside the players.

Memories worth keeping

Petone’s photographs preserve the character of club life. Bob Scott kicking barefoot at the club’s 1970s celebrations is one of those moments: a great player, familiar company and the shared enjoyment of the game.
